The Mara River that separates Tanzania and Kenya and keeps the wildebeests from greener grasslands, stretches for nearly 400 km (248 miles) and offers the wildebeests a number of countless overpass grounds. The idyllic crossings, those with banks that offer a path to the river bed are usually found every 500 m – 800 m along the river banks. When a specific herd of wildebeests arrives at the rows of the river, they examine for a place where the banks are not too vertical to offer the easy crossing. It may take hours for them to accumulate the courage to take the first step into the river. Many will drift right on the edge of the river bank for hours, mocking the nearby onlookers with one of the greatest wildlife shows on the planet. The Mara River, located in the northern Serengeti and Masai Mara is the most famous and popular river crossing among tourists. The Masai Mara migration sees wildebeests crossing the river heading north to enter the Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya. Once they are there, they relax only briefly before crossing the river once again, this time heading south back to the Serengeti plains and Ngorongoro Conservation Area in Ndutu

ARRIVAL NORTHERN SERENGETI

Arrive at JRO/Arusha then transferred to the Arusha Airport for your flight to Serengeti -Kogatende .Upon arrival at Kogatende airstrip meet your guide and transferred to your tented camp for check in and a hot lunch. After a short relaxing, afternoon adventure exploring the vast plains of the Northern Serengeti. Be mesmerized by the wildebeest crossing the Mara River, this is a great show on earth, return to the camp for dinner and overnight.

FULL DAY SERENGETI/ KOGATENDE

Early morning game drive enable seeing predators killings and hunting in northern Serengeti. In many cases migration crossing Mara River takes place around Serengeti and at that particular time millions of wildebeest and zebra mingles together followed by predators. Afternoon, back in the camp for hot lunch or you can either decide to depart with packed lunches. Return for Dinner and overnight enjoying a calm evening weather and a sky

CROSSING OF THE WILDEBEEST MIGRATION

0600hrs breakfast, depart the Camp for game drive -Kogatende for wildebeest migration. Northern Serengeti -From mid-June to December, thousands and thousands of wildebeest concentrates in the northern part and some cross towards Masai Mara in Kenya in search of water and pastures. Picnic lunch served at the Picnic Site, later return at the camp for dinner and overnight.

KOGATENDE TO NGORONGORO CRATER

After breakfast with your packed lunch drive, game en route to Ngorongoro Crater. Afternoon descend into the floor of the Crater for 6 hours tour - largest intact caldera in the world. The Ngorongoro Conservation area is home to more than 30 000 protected animals. Rhinos are seen here as well as elephant, lion, buffalo and large herd’s zebras and wildebeest. Picnic lunch taken in the Crater, ascend the crater for check in at the lodge.

NGORONGORO TO ARUSHA /JRO

As we are about to bid our farewell take a short stroll around your Lodge in Ngorongoro relish yourself to the beautiful view of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. After your hot breakfast pack your bags and start your drive to JRO via Arusha Town served in town hotel, after lunch you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for flight back home

Climate

Clothing

Dress is mainly informal and should be comfortable as well as practical. Something warm should be brought along for early morning and evenings. Safari clothes are available from hotels/lodges/camps.

Remember to take your Malaria medication and protect yourself from sun with sunscreen or safari hat. Yellow fever vaccination can be acquired at the airport upon your arrival
Heavy cloth are important for early morning activities during your safari
