Arusha National Park is probably the best place in Tanzania to watch black and white Colobus monkeys and also to listen to their loud and guttural territorial calls echoing through the forests. The Arusha National Park has a number of activities to be done apart from just game viewing these include Mount Meru hiking, short walking (one hour walk) and long walking (four hours walk), canoeing, horse riding, cultural/village walk among others which can be locally arranged.

THE ARUSHA PARK

0630hrs depart from your hotel in Arusha with your packed lunch proceed to Arusha National Park. The Park has lots to offer and dazzles with a perfect mix of flora and fauna and different landscapes. Passing the “small Serengeti” during a game drive, you are likely to spot peaceful herds of buffaloes, bushbucks on the edge of the forest as well as warthogs and zebras. At Ngurdoto Crater (rainforest) you are likely to spot the black and white colobus monkey as well as the elegant mitis monkey. An array of water birds like cormorants, kingfishers and beautiful flamingos are also often spotted and the seven alkaline lakes with different salt concentration. Lunch will be taken at a picnic place, afternoon continue with your game drive. After spending most of your day in the park, drive to Arusha town.

Climate

Clothing

Dress is mainly informal and should be comfortable as well as practical. Something warm should be brought along for early morning and evenings. Safari clothes are available from hotels/lodges/camps.

Remember to take your Malaria medication and protect yourself from sun with sunscreen or safari hat. Yellow fever vaccination can be acquired at the airport upon your arrival
