After breakfast depart Arusha heading to the Tarangire National Park. Tarangire River flows the whole year and gives water to the wildlife in dry season. At the life-giving Tarangire River, you will see a selection of mammals ranging from giraffes, bushbucks and hartebeests to zebras and warthogs. The park is also home to buffaloes, zebras and wildebeests and the predators such as lions. In the afternoon you will leave the park to a nearby campsite, where you will spend the night in the tent.
After breakfast depart Tarangire and head to Lake Natron . Here you will travel along the Rift Valley Escarpment with OlDoinyo Lengai “the mountain of God” of the Maasai in there. At a distance you might see a pink radiance from flamingos breeding and feeding on the algae of the alkaline Lake Natron (seasonal and depending on water level). In the afternoon you will join a Maasai guide on a walk to a nearby waterfall before you return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Early start, travel along adventurous dirt tracks with breath-taking views your vehicle climbs out of the Rift Valley to reach the plains of the Serengeti by midday. Serengeti means “endless plains” maasai language, seeing grassland savannah stretching to the horizon. The Serengeti is the most famous park in Tanzania and it is home to the largest animal migration on the planet–hundreds of thousands of animals trek to find fresh grass and water. Overnight at a campsite in the northern part of the park.
This day is dedicated to game viewing in the Serengeti. Full day game drive or morning and afternoon drives in the central. Between December and May vast herds of wildebeests and zebras will be seen, with calves and young ones being born between January and March. The Seronera area is also the best place to spot the shy and nocturnal leopard. It’s the place you can see the big five throughout the year. Game drives then drive to your lodge for dinner and overnight around the Seronera valley.
Morning game drive in the Serengeti Park is one of the best sceneries. Serengeti sunset is stunning to watch as it gets brighter and very beautiful, spot the birds nesting. Animals tend to be more active in the morning before the temperatures rise. After lunch, depart the plains of the Serengeti and travel to the highlands of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Sleep at a campsite next to Ngorongoro Crater’s edge, view the collapsed volcano and enjoy a sundowner at sunset.
The wildlife in the crater is just breath-taking and with luck you might see the “Big Five”–lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard. In the crater is where we can spot the black manned lion and the rarely seen black rhinoceros. Other mammals like warthogs, wildebeests, zebras, hippos and some of the more than 500 bird species are seen. After an entire morning of game viewing and a picnic lunch in the crater, travel to Karatu for dinner and overnight.
After a leisurely breakfast, you will start your returning trip to Arusha, where you will arrive around midday. You will be dropped off in the city Centre or at the airport/ point of your choice or get your domestic flight to Zanzibar.
